Of Wine Racks and the American Dream

For most folks, there is nothing like moving into a new house.
It’s something they only do but a couple of periods over their lives, and even if they are only renting it.
A house just occupies that mythical place in the American imagination.
In Europe, owning a house would be a bit of a luxury, but in America owning one seems totally normal – so much so that not to even live in one would feel downright anti-social!

Indeed, that’s why even renters will probably pull out the wine bottles from off their wine racks and celebrate move-in day, toasting an event that is at once ordinary and exceptional.
For a house in America is supposed to be a home, a spot for settling down and taking roots, and even if one is only renting it’s at least that much closer to gratifying the American Dream.

Or so things look: enter the great housing bubble of fin-de-siecle America.
One can only imagine how many bottles were pulled from how many wine racks throughout the country in celebration of finally owning a home.
According to some economists, excess capital had to find an outlet, resulting in easy credit lines that made a house accessible to virtually anybody who asked for it.
No money down?
No credit?
Not an issue!
Or so proclaimed the adverts.
In newspapers, on lamp poles, over radio and television.
Even bad credit was no hindrance.
All things considered, the government itself was officially pushing home ownership as a societal good.

Nevertheless the bill’s due.
The huge Ponzi Scheme of restructured bad debt from subprime mortgages has folded away, dragging the world economy with it.
May seem like the good times were simply just a big financial bacchanal fueled by wine and wine racks, as it were.
For many, the American Dream remains just that, a dream, while for others, who have sampled it, it has now become a veritable nightmare of debt, falling property values, and foreclosure.

A New Kind of Small Business Loans

Small business loans are the life-blood of just about any start-up. Always has, always will be. But now there’s another option that doesn’t entail any time-consuming processes such as what happens with a bank and other such lending institution. One can get a cash advance first on expected earnings as supported by monthly credit receipt averages. This means that, in effect, one only repays the loan as time passes, reducing the loan with finances actually around, at a certain percentage so that the actual amount can differ as earnings inevitably does! This makes for great convenience and peace of mind for the typical entrepreneur, who no longer has to worry about meeting a fixed cost despite the business.

Backpacking Tents Are Practical Yet Tactical

Going to enjoy the Great Outdoors?
Make sure to pack a backpacking tent or you might just regret it.
Mother Nature is no one to trick around with, and she can be quite unpredictable!
Thus, even if it’s just a relatively short hike of at least half a day’s travel time, be sure to shoulder a lightweight backpacking tent, just in case (of storm or worse).
This way, you will at least have shelter and not be completely subject to the elements.

Seems like sound judgment, right?
Yet many hikers take to the trails without so much as a thought to the likelihood of disaster.
Obviously, many individuals who enjoy the wild do so without schlepping along a backpacking tent, however light, and manage to survive all right.
Certainly, many such folks may be experienced survivalists!
But because it’s better to be safe than sorry, even at the tariff of some inconvenience, it is more than a good idea that one is carried.

It’s just wise practice.

Besides, you weren’t going to go off totally empty-handed, were you?
After all, what’s a hike with a corresponding picnic at some point!
And if you’re going to schlepp something along, why not one of the most crucial items of gear when it comes to anything outdoors-y.

You’re going to need your food and water in any care for sure.
It’s only just one more step to carrying a full-fledged tent, only designed to be as light-weight as possible for emergency overnight stays.
The possible trouble is slight and pales in comparison next to the reassurance that comes from being totally prepared.

So enjoy Mother Nature and her bounty – but don’t tempt fate!
Do the right thing and become pro-active, not basically reactive: don’t leave home without your tent!

The Importance Of Swarovski Rhinestones

Swarovski Rhinestones are, no surprise, rhinestones made by Swarovski – but what are rhinestones, and what makes one a Swarovski?
In fact, who, or what, is Swarovski?

Rhinestones are diamond simulants, with the best examples showing most of the same features as a real diamond – such as those created by Swarovski, a world-famous Austrian company that’s long been producing such fine goods.
Originally founded by Daniel Swarovski (born Daniel Swartz) back in the days of the Dual Monarchy of the Hapsburgs’ Austro-Hungarian Empire, the company has grown into a luxury brand so well-respected that it has been selected to provide the star atop Rockefeller Center’s famed Christmas Tree every year.

But what of Swarovski Rhinestones?
Well, all that’s by way of sayings that when it comes to rhinestones, you can trust Swarovski to bring the same degree of know-how that has been at the foundation of the company’s long history of technical excellence second to none.
Indeed, Daniel Swarovski was but only thirty years old when he patented an electric cutting machine that made it much easier to make fine crystal glass.
With more than a century of such knowledge, their rhinestones, like all their crystal glass products, would be the finest good examples of the craft and often treasured as heirlooms.

Consider such realistic effects as shining sparkles and rainbows, in the same manner that a diamond would create.
With a Swarovski, it takes a pro gemologist to notice any difference – and then only under magnification.
Constructed from rock crystal, glass, as well as acrylic, the top rhinestones can pretty much rival the expense of the real thing oftentimes!

Normally, even Swarovski Rhinestones will only be but so faith in their verisimilitude.
An experienced eye with the assistance of magnification will be able to observe such tell-tale signs as seams and spherical edges.
But for all practical purposes, a Swarovski rhinestone will do just fine!

How NFL Flags Are Constructed These Days

You simply can’t have a football game without NFL flags.
To do otherwise will be decidedly un-American!
Okay, never mind that these things are most likely made in China.
Hey, what’s more American than having others do your stuff for you?
So NFL flags are probably produced in China.
Hey, it’s cheap and sufficient for the Sunday game.
Who cares?
Sports transcends politics, right?

Truth be told, those “old-economy” jobs are basically never coming back to the United States – or any other advanced industrialized nation, for that matter.
All things considered, who wants to make a living making NFL flags?
Not the Chinese.
No, really!
Even they don’t really want to do this kind of work forever.
In fact, the authorities over there are already trying hard to steer their economy away from making low-value stuff like flags, shoes, and other simple things.
Indeed, haven’t you recognized that lots of your apparel is coming from places like Bangladesh, the Dominican Republic, and even Mauritania?
No joke!

That’s just how things are.
It’s called capitalism.
Businesses will do whatever they can for cash.
And it simply does not make cents – as in dollars and cents – to have American workers, with their lifestyle (as lowered as it is in the 21st Century, to be sure) and needs, making low-value products.
Of course, you can still find companies here in the States creating these products, but then you can have to pay a premium price for them – which, of course, many a patriot does simply on principle alone.
And so the “Made in USA” label can be a proud marker that businesses are eager to exhibit.
After all, what’s more American than free choice?
And so many a football fan will wave their American-made flags with delight, choosing to literally put their money where their mouths are!

Musical Wind Chimes and the Collective Unconscious of Carl Jung

There is that inexplicable something about wind chimes – they recommend something other-worldly.
Why should this be?
It isn’t something we are aware of, and even when we stop to consider it we can’t quite put our finger on what it is that’s taking place, exactly, that makes them grab our interest so.

There is this curious quality about wind chimes, and part of it surely is related to the point that noise is being made…by something hidden.
It is not even simply noise, in fact, but musical tones – indeed, if it were just noise it would not seem so uncanny.
But that they should produce what sounds like the beginning of something musical is errie, almost like from somewhere a whisper is struggling to come out, the whisper of music, something practically musical but not quite, not just yet – like a whisper of which we are not even certain we’ve heard!

Therefore it is with wind chimes, how they move and make noise that is more than noise, as if an invisible pair of hands should rummage through a piano keyboard, searching for agreeable, music-sensible notes.
The “invisible pair of hands,” obviously, is but the wind – yet the wind itself bears magical qualities, lent to it by millennia of human creativity.
And so the conjunction where the two should meet, where mythological wind and glass, stone, or even wood conspire to produce semi-musical tones – this combination is our collective unconscious.

It is from this collective unconscious of Jungian psychology that updates our subtle shudder at the musical notes generated by the wind chime, our unspoken emotional knowledge of the chime as an instrument for voices beyond the world.
Whether it’s a literal spirit dominion or something much more intricate, regarding the very birth and nature of human consciousness itself, such sounds remind us that there is more to the world than you would think – or ear.

Say No To The Common Cold

Where staying healthy is concerned, we all know precisely how important it is to take in enough Vitamin C. Everybody is always talking about simply how much Vitamin C will help an individual. What’s one thing you’re told after you get a cold? “Take a tablet of Vitamin C!” Now, nonetheless, there is some speculation about whether Vitamin C can actually help prevent the common cold.

By now you have no doubt also been informed about Echinacea. The main idea of Echinacea is that, if you take it when those initial few cold symptoms start to manifest, you will be able to make the cold stay away. More and more scientific studies are proving, though, that Echinacea offers not much more than a simple placebo effect for people who are suffering from the common cold or the flu. At most the health supplement cuts the cold’s duration by twenty hours. It isn’t a cure.

So what do you do to keep the colds away? Here are some hints to really help you out.

1. Wash your hands. Clean your hands a lot. This is perhaps the best and most efficient way to keep the common cold away. How come this is so successful? Give it some thought. Your hands are more likely to come into contact with flu and cold germs than any other part of your body. Think of all of the things you touch during a day. You increase your chances of coming down with something every time you touch anything that has already been touched by someone suffering from a cold or the flu. If you wash your hands a lot, you will be far less likely to let any of the microbes that you have made contact with get into your system and grab hold.

2. Get lots and lots of rest. Staying up late can be very tempting, especially when your life is tense. Perhaps you have extra work to get accomplished. You wish to spend more time with pals. Perhaps you really would like to watch a show on television. Doing this, then again, reduces the rest you receive. Rest will help your system find the energy to drive back infections that want to hurt you. Plus: it is while you are resting that the entire body does all of its servicing and repairs. The more rest you get, the easier it’s going to be for ones body to reduce the chances of infection and get rid of it before it really has a chance to latch on.

3. Drink a lot of drinking water. Your entire body requires at the very least eight eight ounce glasses of h2o every day to be healthy. Staying effectively hydrated is definitely how your system is able to flush the toxins out of your system. If you do not get the suitable hydration, bacterias hang out inside of you as opposed to being flushed out. Do not forget: your body can last about 7 days without eating solid food. Your entire body may only last a couple of days if you don’t stay hydrated. That alone should remind anyone how essential it is to stay hydrated.

Here’s the thing: there isn’t a sensational solution for the flu. All you’ve got is common sense and taking preventative steps like washing your hands, getting enough rest and staying hydrated.

A Modern Philosophy of Property Rights

The history of cases involving property law is a prosperous trove of compelling episodes that interest not simply industry experts like famed developer Isaac Toussie but everyday folks with an interest in moral challenges to boot. For the law is designed to reflect right and wrong and real estate presents an array of concrete applications anywhere for such otherwise high-minded notions that may not always impact as immediately or as thoroughly on day-to-day life.

Naturally, there are few things as worth fighting for as land. More or less every society in human history has handled territory and property issues right at the heart of its culture. In our modern times, we resolve such disputes non-violently, but the passions that can be engendered are often no less intense. And thus the rich record of real estate law cases involves some of the most bizarre, amusing, or otherwise thought-provoking scenarios imaginable.

In case you find a gold ring that nobody claims, can it be considered legally yours? By and large, it belongs to whoever owns the property upon which or wherein the gold ring is found.

What if you procured property on an as-is basis but later determined that you were lied to? In Alabama, it’s often a case of buyer beware, unless the misrepresentation involves something not immediately apparent which could hurt health or safety.

Or look at the case of someone whose property is marked by a tree line for a border, only to have that tree line grow thicker and extend over the years. Well, in Minnesota if that boundary is something everyone has agreed upon on a de facto basis for fifteen years, that boundary is then the legal boundary.

Naturally, each of the cases cited can and will admit of numerous nuances that add up to the sort of intricacy that keeps lawyers and judges employed full-time throughout the year, but the gist of them all is as stated. Interesting, no?

What Real Estate Descriptions Really Mean

Are you aware that real property listings, it’s truly a question of semantics. Semantics is the science of meaning, of the relationship between symbol and symbolized, between the idea and also the reality behind that concept, if any – between map and territory, between real estate listing and the property in reality. Oftentimes, the most hopeful, and thus misleading, euphemisms are employed in an effort to distract the would-be buyer. In reality, unreal property descriptions is something of a running joke inside the industry, with an illustrious history that consists of everything from Florida swamps to New York City bridges. After all, how did Greenland get its name?

Real estate professionals like Isaac Toussie could be well-versed in spotting such gimmicks, having developed the mindset themselves from years inside the industry, but laymen are well-advised to consult the professionals’ own bag of tricks to bring themselves equally up to date with regards to common industry practices. Thus, anything described as “cozy” is likely to mean “cramped” in reality, although a “hanyman’s special” will most likely have to involve extensive renovation if ever the location is to be habitable!

And generally a step ahead of semantics if not the law (though as any lawyer knows, the two might be inextricably intertwined), a large number of enterprising brokers and agents have even taken to semi-legalistic language describing separate rooms, half-finished basements, or outright illegal situations as a “rentable in-law apartment.” Keeping an eye on the language utilized is generally an excellent part of the struggle!

Something such as a real estate transaction is by nature complex and likely to be drawn-out in any case, to be certain, but consumers can superior prepare themselves by way of probably the most thorough of self-education. Old adages apply: “when dining with the devil, start using a long spoon.” In the case of many real estate listings, the proverb will need to be revised to suggest utilizing the devil’s own dictionary!
